“ Moving on, is a simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard ” — Dave Mustaine
“ The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be ” — Marcel Pagnol

Oh how tough life is sometimes. The sad thing is you know that it will get better but sometimes you just feel like it won't and I'll always feel like this. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut that I can't get out of.

How to Style Your Shelf

I am looking for some Hermes orange boxes. If anyone has any, I will take them!

Real Simple has some tips on how to decorate your bookshelves by how much of a reader you are. Pretty clever if you ask me.
Bloglist
So I've decided to add all my daily blogs on to my sidebar to let you guys in on what I look at on the daily. This list is pretty intensive and includes all types of blogs, but it's still growing and I find cool blogs everyday. But take a look if you're curious.
Invite Only Shopping
So the new thing out there is these invite only sample sales. I've been a member of these for a while and I noticed it's been accumulating. So I'd thought I share these sites with you guys.

Hautelook is my newest site. They just had a huge Designer Blowout sale today. Right when I logged on, most of the things were already taken. You defs need to be a fast clicker. But they had some amazing sales. Alice & Olivia dresses were way marked down, like 70% off. No joke.

ideeli is a pretty decent site. They have giveaways that the other sites don't do. Check it out.

Gilt is the first site I joined. They are very organized and take amazing pictures of the clothes which are nice. They send you daily emails to remind you what's on sale. They have some really nice things.

Rue La La is also pretty new for me. My dad actually invited me, which is weird. But they have some decent things. Not as pricey as maybe Gilt, but not as big of designers either. They did have Vix bathing suits for a fraction of their retail price.

Madewell Love

via Madewell
For those who don't know, Madewell is J. Crew's younger and perkier kid sister. I love their lookbook and it changes every month or so. It' just good inspiration for me because most of their pieces are basics that I already own.
Unfortunately for us Bay kids, they don't have one up here. Hopefully they will soon. Until then, take a trip to LA, Glendale, or Las Vegas to see it in person. And tell me how it is!

Une mise a jour
Today is Friday, so that means morning treats at work. I'm fully satiated from mine, which was an breakfast panini on English muffin (side note: why are they called English muffins? I'll look it up) with bacon, egg, tomato, and swiss. Dee-lish!

A little inspiration for my future home. If I have a little window to the kitchen like this I will paint the wall with black chalkboard paint and write the menu for the day on the outside.

Also another good idea. I have a huge world map and another map of Japan (for free from Japan) at home. I think I'll frame it with a cork backing so I can pin all the places I've been! Also, I love the chair.

The Hundreds: Summer 09

I love the Hundreds and all, but really? Do these shoes look familiar to anyone? I mean I know they draw inspiration from shoes they already own and love, but these are just too much. They remind me of Target or Payless versions of Chucks or Vans. I'm not impressed.

Sister

Paul & Joe Sister's Fall 2009 collection isn't out yet. But Nitrolicious has some pictures. I love it all. I love comfy knits more than I should. My exes has said that I like granny sweaters, which may be the case but Paul & Joe makes these look so chic.

I love this green coat.

Lacey
The necklaces are by Emmi Casi, a French designer. She uses lace and embroidery to make such fairytale-like necklaces. She does it all by hand too!I'm inspired to hang more of my jewelry on my wall. I mean I have some just for the sake that I don't have room for them in my box, but the way she does it makes it look so cute.

Tealights
Found these over at the style files.Aren't they adorable. They don't seem too difficult to make. It makes me want to head over to the thrift store to try it out.
Or if you have more money and less time, buy them here.

First
“ Don’t you know about first love? You may grow out of it but you don’t get over it. ”
— The Bad and the Beautiful
The funniest thing, I had a dream about him last night too. It wasn't anything super exciting or romantic. It was exactly how we are right now. But he was in it. Also in my dream my Macbook was leaking water, that was the scary part.

Gilly Hicks?

Have you guys ever heard of Gilly Hicks?
Yea, me neither. Supposedly it's a subsidiary of Abercrombie & Fitch that sells women's intimate apparel. It's supposed to have an Australian feel to it. They call panties "Down Undies". Awkward? Even more awkward is when you go on their site and the first thing you see is a girl in panties in the middle of a line of bare bottoms, male bottoms. Sure, A&F is always oozing sex and I'm not surprised their other brands do that too.
Holy crap. I just looked at their prices and it's $12 a pantie and $44 for a cami! That's more than I pay for jeans sometimes. No surprise that I never shopped at A&F because I don't have the funds and I don't really like their marketing or racist t-shirts either. I'm not a fan. The only thing I like it the concept for the Ruehl store, or actually the architecture. I would like to design my closet with built-ins and islands but I don't like their clothes that much either.
So while I do enjoy having a vast assortment of underthings ( I once counted my undie collection, I had 60-70 pairs!) I will not be popping my head into a Gilly Hicks store anytime soon. Plus I don't even know where one is.

Save a Tree
I was inspired by this post on Design Sponge about DIY eco-friendly notebooks. I've had a diary/journal since I was in the 4th grade so I go through notebooks a lot. Plus since I've started working in office environments I've accumulated so much paper and most of it goes to recycling but I thought maybe I'll start assembling my own note books. So I collected paper for about a month. Here's my version:
