New Dress

When I first saw the Vena Cava for Gap dresses I wanted this one right away. The $88 price tag made me re-think it. Well, lucky for me one casual stroll into the downtown Gap and out I came, a happy camper, with the dress for $26. Score, if I say so myself.

I wore it to work today. I wish I could wear it with these heels but I work at a law firm, where these would defs not be appropriate.

PS. Check out the newest pillow in the background.

Pillows!

I have a few pillows that sit on my window seat. They are all different sizes and colors so I wanted to make some covers so that they flow together a little better. So I made this pillow cover the other day. I found the fabric on sale at Joann Fabrics. I made a few others too but thes are the only picture I have so far.

With an envelope back.

Now it goes with my $10 Urban Outfitter pillow.

Copy Cat

So my mom has a pretty good collection of costume jewelry from her disco days. But I don't really like the lengths of some of them. I'm constantly inspired by J. Crew and they had some jewelry like this:

Photobucket

My mom had given me this necklace but the length was kinda iffy. It's a little too short for my taste.

Photobucket

So one morning I grabbed a piece of stain ribbon and just tied it to the clasps. What do you think?

Let's recycle

What is Recycle LACMA?
"On January 14th, 2009 the Los Angeles County Museum of Art announced that it
was deaccessioning more than 100 items from its costumes and textiles
collection. Once carefully collected, catalogued, and cared for, these items
have now been cast back out in to the world. What will happen to them? Like
any
other useless item, they will need to be recycled or disposed of.

Recycle LACMA is a project of Los Angeles-based artist Robert Fontenot.
At three separate auctions he purchased over 50 items deaccessioned by LACMA
and
is now trying to find new uses for these otherwise unwanted items.

Although each item has not yet been used, each item can have a use."
Such a cool idea.

Mon sac à l'orange

Photobucket

"Style guru and trendwatcher Jaye Hersh brings the latest LA chic in her
exclusive Target collection, delivering fashion-forward looks at daringly low
prices."
So I caved and bought this bag at Target yesterday. It's a part of Hollywood Intuition's collaboration with Target. It's pretty roomy and I could use it at work. The organge is not too bright, which means I can transition it into Fall. I swear it does not look so plastic and shiny in real life (Target has the worst photographer.) I will take better pictures of it when I take it out.

I wanted an orange bag for a while, but I didn't think getting a Kate Spade or a Hermes Birkin (dream!) was in the cards for me right now. So this is the next best thing, right? What do you think? Should I keep it?

I can not wait for Fall. It is my favorite season in terms of fashion. I am in love with Cynthia Vincent's fall collection. The jewel tones and the black stockings. I cannot wait.

Mission #1

We're back from our spontaneous SoCal roadtrip. Mission #1 was to eat food we could only eat down there.

The Veggie Grill. It was all vegetarian. The sweetheart fries are so bomb there with their sauce! That sauce is defs competition for La Vic's orange sauce. The "meat" was pretty tasty too.

Made this little thing out of some t-shirt scraps a week ago. It's pretty simple, just layer some circles and then sew some beads in the middle if you want. I put some interfacing to make it a little stronger.

Photobucket

No need to shell out $30 for a t-shirt like this at J. Crew when you can make one. I just clip it to my v-necks.

And you can wear it as a hair clip. You know how I love versatility.
